Stade Rennais and Qatar Stars League side Al-Duhail SC are close to reaching an agreement worth €10m for the transfer of midfielder Benjamin Bourigeaud (30), according to a report this Wednesday from L’Equipe. Bourigeaud’s exit would signal the end of an era at Rennes considering he joined the Brittany side seven years ago. The Racing Club de Lens youth product logged 65 goals and 66 assists in 310 games with Stade Rennais, with which he won the 2019 Coupe de France final at the expense of Paris Saint-Germain.
Sources contacted by Get French Football News confirmed that Bourigeaud’s time at Stade Rennais was drawing to a close. Bourigeaud has expressed a desire to leave the Ligue 1 club whilst Rennes also intend to lower their wage bill. Talks remain underway between Rennes and Al-Duhail, whose first team is coached by Christophe Galtier. The player took on a final lap of honor last Saturday at the Roazhon Park during the team’s final preseason games against Bundesliga opposition Werder Bremen.
