Record-setting Vincent Kompany prepares to lead Bayern Munich Sunday Oktoberfest outing

Saturday night’s 0-3 away win at Eintracht Frankfurt ensures that Bayern Munich will head into the October international break at the top of the Bundesliga table. Things are literally looking perfect for the German record champions this year as they have not lost or even drawn a match in ten competitive fixtures thus far. Ten games. Ten wins. That is indeed a club record for the club of all records. Bayern and their record-setting head coach now prepare to celebrate Oktoberfest together. 

Bayern have also set records for the number of goals scored (25) through five Bundesliga matchdays. With current calendar year almost done, the mighty German giants also haven’t lost an away fixture in the entirety of 2025. Very little appears to stand in the way of a second consecutive Bayern title. Would-be challengers Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig only picked up a point apiece in a draw earlier today. Eintracht – considered by many to be Bayern’s only real semi-challengers this year – have just been dismantled at home.

In their respective post-match interviews, record-setting head coach Vincent Kompany and new summer addition Jonathan Tah confirmed that Sunday has been set aside for recovery and personal time. Tah and Kompany themselves would be headed to the Munich “Wiesn” for a little Oktoberfest fun. 

Many Bayern players will be coming along, though Harry Kane may skip this year’s outing as he rehabs a slight ankle knock. Tah – who has already won a Bundesliga title under Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso – first had to praise the work that Kompany did with the team.

“Every player on this team feels like he is part of the team because of him,” told Sky Germany after the full-time whistle. “It’s certainly not always easy as a coach. But he does an outstanding job. He pushes us, is there for everyone, and is generally very communicative. That leads to everyone always giving their all. That’s absolutely golden.

“We can enjoy ourselves for a day now tomorrow at the Bayern Wiesn,” Tah continued. “And then it’s back to business. Because we can always find something that we can improve upon.“

“We’ll go there with the family tomorrow [to the Bayern Wiesn] and have a beer,” Kompany added in his own post-match interview. “It’s also important that we’re there on Sunday with all our families, soak up the culture, and look back and forward a little bit together.“
