Real Sociedad have entered talks with Almería over the signing of Umar Sadiq, as broken by Fabrizio Romano.
It was reported earlier in August that Villarreal were keen on securing the services of the Nigerian international. However, negotiations stalled as The Yellow Submarine were not willing to meet Almería’s €30m asking price.
Real Sociedad want to sign a striker before the transfer window closes this Thursday following the departure of Alexander Isak, who signed for Manchester United for €70m.
Based on reports surfacing today, Valencia have beaten the Basque side to the signing of Edinson Cavani, as Real Sociedad were not willing to offer the Uruguayan a contract longer than a year.
Umar Sadiq could prove to be the striker to fill the void left by Isak. He scored 18 goals in the Spanish second division last season to help Almería get promoted to La Liga and he has already netted two goals in four games this season.
