Real Madrid’s 2nd Jude Bellingham appeal plan confirmed

The powers that be at Real Madrid have not yet given up hope of having the ban handed down to star midfielder Jude Bellingham overturned.

That’s according to The Athletic, who have this afternoon provided a fresh insight into the situation.

New developments in the Bellingham case, of course, were forthcoming early on Friday morning, when it was revealed that Real Madrid had seen an appeal to the Spanish Football Federation rebuffed.

The 20-year-old, for his part, was shown a red card for his protests in the aftermath of his side’s controversial 2-2 stalemate with Valencia last weekend.

After the Spanish authorities deemed his infraction – by way of repeated shouts of ‘it’s a f**king goal’ at referee Jesús Gil Manzano – worthy of a two-game ban, Real Madrid on Thursday launched an appeal.

However, as much came up empty, meaning Bellingham is set to miss Los Blancos’ upcoming meetings with both Celta Vigo, and Osasuna.

And yet, despite the fact that any verdict would not come in time to see their midfield starlet’s status for the next couple of weeks altered, the Santiago Bernabéu brass have today nevertheless taken their appeals a step further.

As per The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana:

‘Real Madrid are taking Jude Bellingham’s red card to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following his sending off against Valencia.’

The CAS generally deals with high-profile sporting cases, including transfer bans and doping scandals, but the Real hierarchy evidently feel as though their appeal holds more than enough weight to be taken into consideration by European sport’s leading body for justice.
