Real Madrid have encountered several injury woes this season, and they will be missing a key player for their Sunday night showdown with city rivals Atlético Madrid.
On Tuesday, Dani Carvajal suffered a muscle injury during training. Although the severity has not yet been confirmed, it’s likely that Carvajal will sit out their Champions League opener against Union Berlin on Wednesday and the Madrid derby on Sunday night, as per journalist Arancha Rodríguez.
This information aligns with Diario AS’ report, suggesting that Carvajal’s recovery may take around 10 days. This absence could extend to their match against Las Palmas the following Wednesday, and their encounter with Girona might also be in jeopardy if his recovery does not go as planned.
The Spain international has been in peak form throughout the first five games of this season, creating significant challenges for the opposing teams as he ventures forward. His impact has been indispensable to both their offensive and defensive strategies. In his absence, Lucas Vázquez is the likely replacement, but Carlo Ancelotti could also opt for Nacho Fernández if he seeks a more defensively sturdy alternative.
