RB Leipzig star Eljif Elmas has this evening fired a warning shot to upcoming opponents Real Madrid.
Leipzig, and Real, are of course primed to lock horns on Tuesday night, as part of the opening round of fixtures in the Champions League’s Last-16.
The latter will head into proceedings boasting understandable favourite status, owing both to their European pedigree, and excellence en route to inching towards the La Liga title by way of a demolition of Girona over the weekend.
Leipzig, on the other hand, have struggled of late, notching just a solitary win in their last five, a stretch which includes a trio of defeats.
And yet, one member of Marco Rose’s squad who envisions a tough evening’s work for the visitors to the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday comes in the form of the aforementioned Eljif Elmas.
Midfielder Elmas secured a move to Leipzig during the January transfer window, after being deemed expendable by Italian champions Napoli.
And, speaking in anticipation of his side’s imminent showdown with Real, the North Macedonian made use of the opportunity to send a message to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad:
“Real Madrid won’t have 5 minutes of peace,” Elmas assured, as cited by Marca.
