PSG players were “hurt” by heated exchange with Luís Campos after Monaco defeat

L’Équipe report today that PSG manager Christophe Galtier remains determined to bounce back following the Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich, all the while several members of his entourage have pointed out some extenuating circumstances. In particular, the late arrival of the new management team over the summer, as well as the World Cup and the club’s failings in the transfer market.

Among the tense episodes involving higher-ups include sporting advisor Luís Campos’ heated exchange with several players after the 3-1 loss to Monaco last month, which is said to have “hurt” the players.

In the days that followed, Campos did not disavow his decision to go into the dressing room to confront the players, while Christophe Galtier – who brought his former Lille colleague with him to the capital this summer – did not distance himself from it either, insisting that speeches from directors are custom in other clubs as well.

L’Équipe’s sources have given contrasting reports of the relationship between the two – some indicating that there is a growing frustration at Campos’ interventions, others saying that the two are linked together. Sources close to Galtier have insisted that there are no issues between the two men, while the likelihood is that both will remain at PSG for the time being, at least for the next three months.
