PSG eyeing Ibrahim Maza to replace injured Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Paris Saint-Germain have concrete interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen starlet Ibrahim Maza in the January transfer window, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Parisians will be without Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who suffered an ACL tear and is expected to be sidelined for several months.

PSG are competing on multiple fronts and need reinforcement for manager Luis Enrique this winter ahead of what could be another long campaign.

They have turned to Maza, who enjoyed a breakout campaign last term, bagging five goals and seven assists in 44 appearances.

He has taken his level up a notch this term after a fantastic individual 2026 World Cup campaign with Algeria. He is increasingly more influential for Die Werkself.

Maza has registered three goals and three assists in 10 appearances. While he is naturally an attacking midfielder, his work rate and football IQ allow him to operate deeper.

His incredible dribbling and X-factor in the final third mean he can also deliver as a winger, making him an exciting talent.

Maza finished ninth in the 2026 Kopa Trophy rankings, which Lamine Yamal won for a third successive year, underlining how highly rated the 20-year-old is.

However, Maza plays his best football just behind the frontline, and he might not buy the idea of playing as an out-and-out winger.

If PSG are signing him to bolster their already terrifyingly strong midfield, then he is an excellent buy even though the reigning Champions League winners are stacked there.

Besides, Mika Godts showed over the weekend against Lyon that he is ready to take the mantle in Kvaratskhelia’s absence.

Godts came on from the bench to inspire PSG to a 2-0 win over their Ligue 1 rivals. He assisted Senny Mayulu’s opener before sealing the win with a strike of his own.

The Belgian will be eager to prove himself in Paris after his summer move from Ajax.
