PSG eye move for OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo

According to Foot Mercato, Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos has met with the representatives of OGC Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo.

The discussions between Campos and Todibo’s representatives happened a few weeks ago. It was to indicate PSG’s interest in the talented defender.

The Cayenne-born defender helped his side keep nine clean sheets in Ligue 1 while winning 65% of his duels.

The 23-year-old earned a call-up to the French national squad earlier this year for his performances.

Todibo is adept at progressive passing and bringing the ball out of defence.

Todibo has caught the attention of PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Les Parisiens want to secure the former Barcelona man to strengthen their backline for the upcoming season.

PSG’s defence will get a makeover this summer. Contrary to expectations, they let go of defender Sergio Ramos when his contract ran out.

To bolster their backline, the Parisians have already made a notable signing by acquiring Milan Skriniar on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract at Inter Milan.

However, concerns persist regarding Skriniar’s fitness level. The 28-year-old has recently returned from a long-term injury.

PSG internally doubt whether he can maintain optimal fitness throughout the entire campaign.

Adding to their defensive woes, Presnel Kimpembe is currently sidelined and will not return until the end of the calendar year.

This injury situation leaves Danilo Pereira and the curiously off-form Marquinhos as the only reliable options in PSG’s central defence.

In light of these circumstances, Campos is pursuing reinforcements for PSG’s defensive unit.

The club is keen to secure the services of Jean-Clair Todibo, but they may face competition from the Premier League.

Manchester United have also shown interest in the former Barcelona defender.

As PSG aim to maintain their domestic dominance and make an impact in European competitions, bolstering the defence is a top priority.

The potential addition of Todibo would further strengthen their backline and provide the necessary depth required to compete at the highest level.
