The Premier League transfer window is finally shut, with £3.19billion being spent between the 20 top-flight clubs throughout the summer – and with 155 players going through the league’s administrative fax machine, fans are now hoping that their new stars can fire them to hit expectations across the campaign.
There have been some mega-money moves, with Alexander Isak’s Deadline Day switch from Newcastle United to Liverpool smashing the Premier League transfer record at £125million, beating their own record that they beat for Florian Wirtz when they paid Bayer Leverkusen £116million earlier in the summer. However, The Athletic reporter Tim Spiers has ranked all of those through the door – with a surprise addition being ranked top.
Premier League Transfers Ranked: 155-121
Starting at the bottom of the list is Marcus Bettinelli, who has joined Manchester City from Chelsea for a nominal fee – and he kickstars three Blues sales, including returning star Marc Guiu and Armando Broja, who joined newly-promoted Sunderland and Burnley respectively.
A surprise addition to the list is Jadon Sancho, however – with the Manchester United forgotten man joining Aston Villa on loan on transfer deadline day.

Premier League Transfers Ranked: 120-91
Heading up the more ‘uninspiring’ deals is Jordan Henderson’s surprise move from Ajax to Brentford on a free transfer.
Elsewhere, the promoted teams and clubs down the bottom of the league feature prominently, including Ben Doak’s £25million move to Liverpool and Dango Ouattara’s £42million move to Brentford.
However, more big-money deals in the form of Chelsea star Jamie Gittens’ move from Borussia Dortmund and Alejandro Garnacho’s move to west London also crop up.

Some more ‘marquee’ signings join this list – notably Matheus Cunha’s move to Manchester United from Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in the transfer window, as well as James Trafford’s move from Burnley to Manchester City.
Newcastle United’s acquisition of Yoane Wissa on transfer deadline day also ranks in this section of the list, with the Magpies having overpaid for the Brentford star.

Premier League Transfers: 60-31
Now we’re into most of the major deals of the summer. Nottingham Forest’s mega-money signings are prominent in the lower reaches of this section, as well as Newcastle United’s earlier captures of Anthony Elanga and Jacob Ramsey.
Elsewhere, Liverpool’s deal for Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez, Joao Pedro’s move to Chelsea from Brighton and Manchester United’s double capture of Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo are also on the list.

Premier League Transfers: 30-11
There are some £40million-plus deals in here – notably Arsenal’s arrivals of Martin Zubimendi and Eberechi Eze, Manchester City’s arrival of Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur’s capture of Xavi Simons. However, a surprising inclusion is Wirtz’s move being ranked in just 24th place.

Premier League Transfers: 10-1
Isak’s capture is the ‘mantlepiece star’ of the Premier League’s window – but there are some big acqusitions in here that aren’t far from top spot.
Viktor Gyokeres’ move from Sporting to Arsenal ranks in eighth, Jack Grealish’s rebirth at Everton sees him in seventh, whilst Isak, surprisingly, only sits fifth.
The podium sees Rayan Cherki’s move from Lyon to Manchester City take bronze medal, Estevao’s move to Chelsea sits just behind top spot – and the huge gong is handed to Tottenham’s capture of Joao Palhinha, with his defensive masterclass allowing Tottenham’s influx of attacking heroes to flourish under Thomas Frank.
