Borussia Dortmund are just 90 minutes away from winning their first Bundesliga title in 11 years. Heading into the final game of the season, Edin Terzic has a full strength squad at his disposal.
Mats Hummels, Julian Ryerson and Marco Reus all avoided yellow cards in their 3-0 win at Augsburg last weekend which means they won’t be suspended for Saturday’s game. Karim Adeyemi did pick up his ninth yellow card and will be suspended for the opening game of the 2023/24 season, should he be shown a yellow card by referee Marco Fritz.
Terzic is again expected to name an unchanged XI with Gregor Kobel in goal and a back four consisting of Marius Wolf, Niklas Süle, Mats Hummels and Julian Ryerson. With Jude Bellingham not training until midweek and working his way back from injury, expect Raphaël Guerreiro to retain his place in midfield, but expect the Englishman to feature at some point.
In attack, Donyell Malen, Karim Adeyemi and Sébastien Haller struggled to break through the Augsburg defence last weekend until Haller did so in the 58th minute. His brace would put Borussia Dortmund above Bayern Munich with Julian Brandt adding a third in added time.
Marco Reus played a significant role against Augsburg with two assists but expect him to be an option from the bench again. Mahmoud Dahoud, Gio Reyna and Youssoufa Moukoko are other options that Terzic can call upon should he need to do so.
Predicted Borussia Dortmund XI vs Mainz
Gregor Kobel – Marius Wolf, Niklas Süle, Mats Hummels, Julian Ryerson – Emre Can, Julian Brandt, Raphaël Guerreiro – Karim Adeyemi, Donyell Malen, Sébastien Haller.
