Victor Boniface is expected to start against Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga Topspiel later today as the reigning champions look to close the gap to the current leaders.
The Nigerian forward, who scored 14 and created nine in 23 league games last season, is already off the mark this season with four goal contributions (three goals and one assist) in the Bundesliga. Boniface also scored a goal deep into stoppage time in Bayer’s 4-3 win over Wolfsburg last weekend, securing an important three points for Xabi Alonso’s side.
Defensively, Piero Hincapié is expected to return to the starting eleven ahead of Jeanuël Belocian, while Jeremie Frimpong should start ahead of Nordi Mukiele; the Dutchman will be key to combatting Serge Gnabry and Michael Olise.
Alongside Granit Xhaka, Robert Andrich should return, while Martin Terrier is expected to start ahead of Amine Adli. A host of changes following Bayer’s win last weekend.
