Postecoglou Shares Son Heung-min Fitness Update for Frankfurt v Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur legend Son Heung-min will miss out on their clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday afternoon – and Ange Postecoglou has stated that the South Korean is being rested for Thursday’s Europa League clash vs Eintracht Frankfurt.

Spurs drew 1-1 against the Bundesliga outfit in midweek, meaning that they will have to avoid defeat in Germany if they are to qualify for the Europa League semi-finals. There is a game against Wolves to contend with first, and although the game doesn’t mean much to Tottenham in terms of European qualification, they will want to win as many games as possible to avoid one of their lowest finishes in Premier League history.

And Postecoglou has stated that Son is being rested against Vitor Pereira’s men, with the Aussie and his coaching staff being ‘cautious’ over his fitness. He said:

“Sonny got a knock on his foot so, we’re just being a bit cautious with him. Wilson [Odobert], like I said, we’re managing him at the moment. Both should be available for Thursday.”

Tottenham haven’t won a trophy for 17 years, and that will be the main item on their agenda – but the added bonus of qualifying for the Champions League if they win the Europa League will be massive for Postecoglou, who could save his season and his job if he finally lands silverware in north London.
