Following an exciting and unexpected start to the season, Stade Brestois has regained a more expected, though still very honourable, table position, currently ranking eighth in the league. This decrease in form has however come with some good news for Les Pirates, as today the club announced the contract extensions of three of their major players.
Pierre Lees-Melou (30), Jérémy Le Douaron (25) and Romain Del Castillo (27) have all signed new deals, and are now linked to the club until 2027. They are amongst the few players who have featured in 100% of Éric Roy’s starting lineups this season and have nine goal contributions between them.
It had come as a general surprise when Brest, who finished 14th in the last Ligue 1 edition and possesses the 15th most valuable squad in the league, according to Transfermarkt, soared to the first place of the French top flight following their home victory to Olympique Lyonnais, making it four wins from six games.
Now on a five-game winless streak, Brest will be looking to renew with success in their next Ligue 1 fixture, away to Montpellier.
