Paulo Fonseca reveals Scudetto ambitions at Milan

New Milan manager Paulo Fonseca has revealed that he is looking to win the Scudetto at Milan and dethrone rivals Inter from the the crown.

Stefano Pioli did win the Scudetto at Milan two years ago but last season saw Milan never really challenge for the title as they failed to go beyond the group stages of the Champions League and also failed in the Europa League.

Fonseca has now been appointed as the club’s new manager and in his opening press conference as manager, he was asked about his ambitions at the Rossoneri.

He said: “As I said the coach who comes here, does it to win. I’m here for this, it’s the truth and we can’t escape from this truth.”

Fonseca also made it clear that intends to see his system and ideas on the pitch from the very first game, even though things would be far from perfect.

“I think that in the first match against Torino I expect to see my ideas on the pitch. This is a process that needs time. We start today but without important players: they will arrive later and I don’t think we will be perfect on the first day of the championship but we will be able to start seeing a different team.”

The Portuguese also revealed that he wants to convince the fans of his abilities and he has the desire to make the team more balanced.

“I have a great desire to start and to be able to convince the fans. I want to make the fans believe that we will be an ambitious team that will play to win. I know the responsibility I have and I am the one who must convince the fans: I am sure that they will be with us at all times. All together we will be very strong.”

Fonseca is coming to Milan after an impressive spell at Lille and he has also shown his tactical capabilities at Roma.
