According to a report from Nice-Matin, Paul Pogba (32) has suffered an injury setback, which could further delay his return to the pitch.
There was some hope before last weekend’s Derby de la Côte d’Azur that Pogba would be able to line up in an AS Monaco shirt for the first time since joining the club as a free agent in the summer, but ultimately, it was considered a bit too soon for the 2018 World Cup winner.
Monaco have been cautious about rushing the midfielder back into action, considering he has not played professionally for two years after serving a drug ban that was reduced from 4 years to 18 months on appeal.
Pogba did feature in Monaco’s preseason friendlies, but his official return to action looks as if it will be pushed back, with Nice-Matin reporting that he suffered a minor injury at the start of the week, which looks as if it will prevent him from being involved in the trip to Angers SCO after the international break.
