For many years in MMA, there hasn’t been a fight which has been so in demand like Jon Jones vs Tom Apsinall. MMA fans are absolutely desperate to see the huge heavyweight unification fight and although Jones’ social media activity and public comments would suggest that he is enjoying life away from the Octagon and is virtually retired, the talk from MMA insiders is that although there is a delay, the fight is more than likely to headline the UFC’s pay-per-view card at Madison Square Garden in New York in November.
Many MMA analysts and fighters, past and present, have had their say about what they believe will happen if ‘Bones’ and Aspinall step inside the Octagon together and, although the Brit is younger, faster and one of the most devastating finishers in the history of the UFC, many people are backing Jones to put in a vintage performance as he has always found a way to win no matter the opposition.
The latest MMA figure to have their say on the heavyweight superfight is Aspinall’s fellow countryman, Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett. The Scouser was asked for his prediction at a recent fan Q&A, and his prediction has surprised quite a lot of fans.

Paddy Pimblett Predicts Jon Jones Will Defeat Tom Aspinall
‘The Baddy’ recognises Aspinall’s threats but can’t bet against ‘Bones’
Although Paddy Pimblett is friends with Tom Aspinall, he is backing Jon Jones to defeat him if their huge heavyweight unification fight happens. At a recent UFC fan Q&A, the Scouser was asked how he sees Jones vs Aspinall playing out, and although Pimblett praised and recognised the threats the interim heavyweight champion poses, he simply can’t pick against ‘Bones’ as he’s never seen him get beat.
Watch Pimblett’s prediction below:
“I love Aspinall, me lad, he’s my mate and that, but I can never pick against Jon Jones because we’ve never seen him get beat.”
Aspinall may be favoured by most people in a fight against Jones, but what Pimblett is saying is what many other MMA fighters and analysts have also said, they just can’t see ‘Bones’ losing as throughout his career, no matter who he’s shared the Octagon with, he has always found a way to win, even if he does it in ugly fashion.
Even though ‘The Baddy’ has backed Jones to defeat Aspinall, he has admitted that if there was a guy to beat the consensus MMA GOAT, it is the Brit, as he could realistically come out and knock him out early into the fight.
“I think now, if anyone’s going to beat him, it is Aspinall. Aspinall could just knock him out and come out with his hands and knock him clean out.”
