Barcelona star Héctor Fort jumped up a place in the defensive pecking order of head coach Hansi Flick, courtesy of his performance against Celta Vigo on Saturday.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Flick’s squad.
Barcelona were of course back in action last night, surrendering a late two-goal lead to stutter to an eventual 2-2 stalemate with Celta Vigo.
En route to as much, a number of Blaugrana stars disappointed with their performances, not least of all Gerard Martín.
So much so that, according to Sport, the 22-year-old has been leapfrogged in the left-back pecking order by the man to have replaced him against Celta.
Hansi Flick, it is understood, was altogether impressed by youngster Héctor Fort’s composed display, after being introduced at the interval at Balaídos.
The Spanish youth international, in fact, can now be considered the first-choice backup to Alejandro Balde in Catalunya’s capital.
