A member of the loan army at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week seen his efforts across the length of the season recognised.
The player in question? Clément Lenglet.
Defender Lenglet has for his part spent the 2024/25 campaign plying his trade on loan with Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid.
And after something of a hit-and-miss start to life in Spain’s capital, the 29-year-old has since gone on to establish himself as an altogether important member of Atléti’s backline.
All told, across all competitions, Lenglet has racked up 33 appearances, widely praised for having rediscovered some of his very best form.
And as alluded to above, this week, such efforts on the part of the stopper have been rewarded.
This comes by way of something of a surprise recall to the France national team squad, with Lenglet drafted in for an upcoming Nations League semi-final showdown with Spain.
The former Sevilla man’s Les Bleus comeback comes with Barcelona standout Jules Koundé unavailable for selection, amid a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
