Olympiacos are interested in making an offer to Barcelona to sign Samuel Umtiti this summer.
As reported by AS, representatives from the Greek side will travel to Barcelona on Monday to negotiate a loan deal for the French defender.
Umtiti is not part of Xavi’s plans and the club are looking to offload him during this transfer window.
Earlier this month Barcelona struck a deal to send the 28-year-old on loan to Rennes, however, he failed the medical.
Even though Umtiti would prefer to return to Ligue 1, no club has contacted the Spanish side to sign him. Olympiacos would be a viable alternative and Barcelona have even offered to cover a percentage of the Frenchman’s salary.
The Blaugrana are not in the financial position to terminate his contract and offloading him this window would allow them to continue lowering their wage bill.
Olympiacos were knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers midweek by Maccabi Haifa and will continue their European campaign in the third round of the Europa League qualifiers.
