2025 looks set to be an unbelievable year for the sport of boxing. Despite being just two months into the new year, there are already several huge fights which are being talked about or are even already made official. Some of these huge fights include the super fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford, the highly anticipated rematch between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol, as well as the huge all-British clash between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn.
Despite there being plenty to look forward to for boxing fans, Oleksandr Usyk’s retirement looks to be happening soon as the Ukrainian recently revealed in an interview with Sky Sports that he has just two fights left in him. Usyk spoke with TNT Boxing shortly after revealing his career is on borrowed time and revealed who he wants his last two fights to be against.

Oleksandr Usyk Targetting Fight Against UFC Champion Alex Pereira
Usyk is targetting fights against Pereira and the winner of Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker for his last two bouts
When Oleksandr Usyk recently revealed that he only had two fights left in his professional boxing career, many predicted one of them to be against the winner of the upcoming heavyweight clash between Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker, which is correct, however, nobody could have predicted that the Ukrainian is eyeing a huge “show fight” with current UFC light heavyweight champion Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira.
Usyk exclusively revealed his targetted opponents in an interview with TNT Boxing which you can see below:
“First, is who wins the next fight (Daniel Dubois vs Joseph Parker) on February 22nd. Next? Maybe a show fight with Alex Pereira. Maybe. Why not? Alex wants to.”
Usyk facing the winner of Dubois vs Parker is definitely the more realistic fight of the two, however, given the fact that boxing financier Turki Alalshikh now has a strong relationship with Dana White and the UFC, could the UFC president pull some strings and make the fight happen?
Oleksandr Usyk vs Alex Pereira Would be Huge
Pereira is one of the best strikers in MMA history and has extensive amateur boxing experience
The idea of Oleksandr Usyk vs Alex Pereira may not please many hardcore boxing fans as they would probably prefer the Ukrainian to face a pure boxer in his last fight, however, there is no doubt that the fight against the UFC superstar would be huge and many people around the world would watch it.
Despite Usyk arguably being the best boxer alive, the fight may not be as big of a mismatch as people may think. The Brazilian has extensive experience in amateur boxing and has regularly sparred with and helped train Zhilei Zhang for his fights. The Ukrainian, of course, would be a huge favourite for the fight but ‘Poatan’ could absolutely cause him some problems with his awkward style and unconventional striking style.
