Rennes have signed Cercle Brugge winger Kazeem Olaigbe (22), both clubs have announced. The 22-year-old will bolster Habib Beye’s attacking options. Rennes were in the market for a left-sided winger as they parted ways with Portuguese striker Jota, who completed a return to Celtic FC, and Amine Gouiri for a combined €30m. Olaigbe has logged eight goals and one assist in 31 appearances so far this season with Cercle Brugge. The former Southampton youth graduate previously featured in Belgium’s youth setup at U21 level.
Rennes have reportedly found a €4m agreement with Cercle Brugge over Olaigbe. The 22-year-old has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Stade Rennais, tying him to Les Rouge et Noir over a contract set to expire in 2029. After a wretched first half of the Ligue 1 season, Rennes have been on a transfer spree. Olaigbe is the seventh player to join Habib Beye’s squad in the winter transfer window after Seko Fofana, Brice Samba, Kyogo Furuhashi, Lilian Brassier, Anthony Rouault and Mousa Al-Tamari.
