Udinese Calcio have confirmed the signing of Oumar Solet (24) on a free transfer. The centre-back has signed a contract that will keep him in the north of Italy until 2027. However, he will only be allowed to play for the club from January 2025.
This is after the defender had his contract at RB Salzburg mutually terminated last month. Solet had not made an appearance for the Austrian club this season after a summer where he was linked with a move away from the Admiral Bundesliga.
The Frenchman who developed in the Olympique Lyonnais academy had been the target of several clubs over the summer. West Ham United had been linked with the defender, and late in the window SSC Napoli and RC Lens both attempted to complete moves to secure Solet.
Udinese are looking to continue a solid start to the season which sees them in 8th place in the league when they host US Lecce on Saturday.
