Clermont Foot have officially announced that Laurent Batlles has taken over as their new head coach. The former ESTAC Troyes and AS Saint-Étienne manager has signed a contract that will keep him with the recently relegated side until 2026.
Les Lanciers had been looking for a replacement to Sébastien Bichard who was fired on Monday the 28th of October. Bichard had taken over from Pascal Gastien at the start of the season after having arrived in March as one of the former manager’s assistants. The appointment of Bichard had been with the view that he would take over fully in the summer.
Clermont Foot hope to return to Ligue 1
Despite the former Red Star assistant being the long term plan for Clermont, a poor start to Ligue 2 means that the promotion favourites are sat in 14th with only nine points from their first ten games. Battles will be hoping to right the course and return Les Lanciers back to the top flight at the first time of asking.
