The 2025 Trophée des Champions, which will pit PSG against Marseille, will be hosted by Kuwait, the Ligue de Football Professionnel has announced on Friday. Trophée des Champions is France’s equivalent to England’s Community Shield, the season-opener between the champions and the Cup winners. Because PSG won both Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France, they will face the Ligue 1 runners-up, their arch-rivals, Marseille. The game has been postponed to January due to PSG’s commitments in the Club World Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.
LFP has added that the 2025 Trophée des Champions will take place at Kuwait City’s Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium on Thursday, January 8. According to L’Equipe, the Ivory Coast and the Sultanate of Oman have also submitted a bid to host the Trophée des Champions, but Kuwait got the nod. PSG are the current Trophée des Champions holders after defeating AS Monaco in January.
