Official | Folarin Balogun replaces Ansu Fati in Monaco’s Conference League squad

Folarin Balogun has replaced Ansu Fati in AS Monaco’s UEFA Conference League squad. The USMNT forward was injured at the time the Principality club named their initial squad.

Balogun is only just working his way back to full fitness after returning from the FIFA World Cup with an injury. He was nonetheless a surprise omission when Les Monégasques named their ECL squad back in September.

The former Arsenal and Stade de Reims forward came off the bench to net his first goal of the season in Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Paris FC. He will now be eligible to face Nordsjaelland on Thursday in the Conference League after Fati was withdrawn from the squad. The Spaniard sustained a hamstring injury during the 1-1 draw against Lille OSC at the end of October. He will now not get the chance to face one of his former clubs, Brighton and Hove Albion, in the League Phase.

It is estimated that he could miss six weeks of action. Monaco have started their Conference League campaign with back-to-back wins.
