Serie A giants Inter seem likely to make further progress in the Champions League when they go past Atletico Madrid and reach the quarter-finals. But their progress is quickly making Inzaghi their best manager in the modern era.
And that is because of the Italian’s managerial records for the club in Europe, in comparison to what Jose Mourinho, Luciano Spalletti and Antonio Conte achieved. Inzaghi has managed 28 matches in Europe for Inter, winning 15, picking up seven draws. But he has been able to manage so many games because of how his side has progressed in the Champions League.
In fact, Mourinho, Conte and Spalletti combined could only muster as many wins as Inzaghi – 15. Mourinho, during his time at Inter, won ten European games. Spalletti won two of them and Conte won only three and that says a lot about how much the Nerazzurri have progressed in Europe under the stewardship of the ex-Lazio boss. That number could soon go up, depending on how Inter perform in Europe in the rest of the season.
