Nottingham Forest ‘Agree Deal’ to Sign ‘Top’ Liverpool Target

Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal with Lyon to sign winger Malick Fofana ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Belgium international has emerged as one of the most wanted players on the market in recent weeks, with the French outfit suffering with major financial issues which has seen them relegated to Ligue 2 as a result.

Lyon are currently appealing the decision in the hopes of being reinstated, but they are facing a fire-sale of their top talent and Forest have now moved quickly to agree a deal for the forward.

Fofana, who has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and was described as being at ‘the top of their list’, is wanted by a host of top clubs across Europe, but it’s Nuno Espirito Santo’s side who have made the first move.

According to Romano, the two clubs have found an agreement for the transfer of the 20-year-old forward, but there is currently no agreement between Forest and the player.

Fofana is said to be waiting to assess all his options as he would prefer a move to a Champions League club, with Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Napoli all said to have made contact recently about a deal.

That doesn’t bode well for Forest’s chances, but with the club competing in the Europa Conference League in 2025/26 after a fantastic season which saw them finish 7th in the Premier League, they are keen to strengthen the squad and show their ambition in the transfer market.

The Tricky Trees have already completed a deal for Botafogo forward Igor Jesus, while they are also holding firm amid interest from several clubs in their current top stars Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Elanga.
