Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs to have shown an interest in the potential transfer of Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.
This is according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano as he spoke exclusively to CaughtOffside for his Daily Briefing column to provide the latest update on Williams’ future.
The Spaniard has been a joy to watch in La Liga for some time now, and it makes sense that the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea have monitored him, with Romano adding that he could see the 21-year-old being a bit hit in the Premier League.
Williams has the pace, power, and technique to have a great career at the very highest level, and at his age he can still improve further, so this could be a good summer to try a move for him.
“Arsenal have also sent their scouts to follow Nico Williams of Athletic Bilbao multiple times, and it’s the same for Chelsea as they included him in the list last summer,” Romano said.

“The race is completely open, and nothing is advanced with either club so far. He’d be great in the Premier League in my opinion – a physical and technical player; very good one.”
Arsenal would do well to bring in more depth in attack so they can afford to rest Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli a bit more often, while Chelsea would also surely benefit from bringing in Williams as an upgrade on inconsistent performers like Mykhaylo Mudryk and Noni Madueke.
