Speaking ahead of OGC Nice’s first match of the season, Francesco Farioli expressed a desire to retain Jean-Clair Todibo (23) and Khéphren Thuram (22).
Both players have been linked with a departure this summer. RMC Sport reported on Wednesday that Manchester United were in discussions with Nice over the signing of Todibo. The Frenchman’s transfer is dependent on Harry Maguire’s departure. The Athletic are reporting that the England international is now nearing a move to West Ham United.
However, with Les Aiglons’ first game of the season just two days away, Farioli has expressed a desire to retain the duo.”He is one of the most talented players in the team, just like Khéphren Thuram. We hear and read a lot of rumours about players leaving. We want to have both of them until the end of the season, that’s what the management wants as well. As long as they’re here, as long as possible I hope, they have to concentrate on the club, even for their own individual journey. Everything will depend on what they can do for OGC Nice. We’re working as usual and we’ll see on 31st August,” he said in a press conference attended by Get French Football News‘ Luke Entwistle.
Earlier this summer, Nice’s sporting director stated that Todibo and Thuram could depart “if all parties are satisfied.” Todibo’s contract runs until 2027, and the former Barcelona defender is reportedly valued at between €40-50m.
