Back in April at UFC 314, Paddy Pimblett established himself as a legitimate top contender in the UFC’s lightweight division, however, prior to his victory over Michael Chandler, ‘The Baddy’ was viewed by many as a product of hype. After his dominant win over the American, the perception of Pimblett changed forever.
The Brit dominated the experienced and tough American, leaving him battered and in a pool of his own blood, winning the fight via TKO in round three. Ever since Pimblett’s breakout, fans have been waiting for news surrounding his next fight — perhaps hoping it would be against Ilia Topuria. Particularly after their recent face-off at UFC 317.
We now have rumors about who Pimblett is going to fight next as UFC middleweight champion, Dricus du Plessis appeared to suggest that the popular prizefighter will compete in the co-main event of UFC 319 in August, which is the same card where the South African will be defending his middleweight title against Khamzat Chimaev in the headline bout.

Paddy Pimblett to Fight Justin Gaethje at UFC 319
Dricus du Plessis leaked the news during an appearance on Ahmed Amwell’s YouTube channel
During a recent appearance during one of Ahmed Amwell’s YouTube videos, reigning UFC middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis leaked that Paddy Pimblett will allegedly be fighting Justin Gaethje next at UFC 319 in August. There is credibility to Du Plessis’s claim because it is he who is in the main event, and will therefore perhaps have awareness of other fights lower down the card.
Check out the footage of du Plessis leaking Gaethje vs Pimblett below:
After Pimblett’s antics this past weekend at UFC 317, where he stormed the cage and had a heated face-off with Ilia Topuria after he brutally knocked out Charles Oliveira in the first round, fans may be disappointed to hear that the Scouser’s next fight isn’t against ‘El Matador,’ however, if Pimblett can get past a top and established lightweight contender like Gaethje, he will likely be in line to be Topuria’s opponent for his first lightweight title defence.
