Newcastle United among clubs to have registered an interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Ansgar Knauff

As reported by Sport1, Premier League side Newcastle United are among several clubs to have shown an interest in Borussia Dortmund’s Ansgar Knauff (20), who is currently on loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.

The German youth international joined Eintracht in January on an 18 month loan deal. After winning the Europa League and therefore securing Champions League football, Knauff will remain at the Bundesliga club – the loan doesn’t include a buy option and it won’t be terminated early.

That means that Newcastle United, as well as clubs from Italy and Spain, would have to wait until at least 2023 before signing Knauff, who has two-years remaining on his current BVB deal.

Speaking to Sport1 earlier in the summer, Knauff said: “We play in the Champions League, we play in the Supercup at the beginning of the season. Of course, these are big events where we want to be as successful as possible. I’m really looking forward to next year and to the Champions League in Frankfurt with these fans.”

Since joining Eintracht in January, Knauff has scored three and created two in 19 games across all competitions.
