Napoli’s Tanguy Ndombele: “I don’t mind being on loan here”

Napoli midfielder Tanguy Ndombele has revealed that he will not mind staying at the Partenopei on a loan deal.

The Frenchman is indeed currently on a loan stint at Napoli from Tottenham, whom he had joined for a club record transfer. He had spent the previous season on loan at Lyon and has usually acted as a rotation option in midfield for Luciano Spalletti’s outfit.

With his future up in the air and Napoli looking unlikely to sign him permanently and exercise the option to do so, Ndombele spoke to So Foot (via Di Marzio) about his situation.

He stated: “I don’t know what my future will be, many fans ask me to return to Tottenham but the clubs will decide and Napoli have an option to buy. I don’t mind being on loan here but sometimes I see footballers being treated more like commodities than people.”

He also spoke about his Spurs exit in the summer and how it came about when Antonio Conte was into his first full season at the club.

There was no other solution with Tottenham and I’m happy I chose Napoli. With Conte there was no choice, I would have liked to demonstrate my value on the pitch but I was on the edge of the group. It was communicated to me from the first day of training with the team.”

There has constantly been a label of Ndombele being lazy attached to him and he gave his views about that perception from the fans and the media, saying:

“I am listless? It’s a label that I’ve always had, from school to the field. But it’s not like that, on the contrary I work constantly to improve.”

The 26-year-old has made 26 Serie A appearances this season and has scored one goal. In the Champions League, he has scored once and has one assist.
