Serie A giants Milan want to bolster their backline and have made contact with Manchester City for Manuel Akanji.
La Gazzetta dello Sport‘s Luca Bianchin has reported that the Swiss defender is Milan’s main target for the backline and his versatility is playing a key role for why he has quickly risen up the Rossoneri’s shortlist.
He can play across the back three with ease and Max Allegri wants a player of that type. Contact has been made with Manchester City and it shouldn’t be too difficult for the two clubs to reach an agreement, considering how Galatasaray previously reached an agreement worth €15 million.
This fee is affordable for Milan, but the problem is represented by the 30-year-old’s wages. Akanji earns €5 million per season and Milan want him to reduce that demand. If the defender reduces his wage demand to €3.5 million, a deal can be done.
