It is yet to be seen how Barcelona will resolve Memphis Depay’s situation at the club, report Marca.
The Dutchman was linked with a move to Juventus this past summer, but a deal did not materialise due to his contractual demands. Last week it was communicated that Sevilla would be interested in signing Depay in the January transfer window to help them get back to the European places in La Liga.
The 28-year-old came on as a substitute in the Netherlands’ World Cup opener against Senegal and played a part in helping create the chance for their second goal.
Depay has been struggling for game time at the Blaugrana and has been unable to get into the starting XI ahead of Robert Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, Raphinha, Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembélé.
The Dutch international’s contract is expiring in June 2023 and it is very unlikely that Barcelona will extend it. The question is whether or not the Catalan outfit will choose to offload Depay in the January transfer window to receive a transfer fee for the forward or will just release him to reduce the club’s wage bill.
