Max Kruse not pleased with role at Wolfsburg

By Jonathan Dicks

Max Kruse is not too happy with his diminished role in the new Niko Kovac system.

Wolfsburg attacker Max Kruse has lost his regular place in the lineup under new trainer Niko Kovac. Younger players such as Lukas Nmecha, Omar Marmoush, Patrick Wimmer and Luca Waldschmidt are now ahead of the 34-year-old on the depth chart. In turn, Max Kruse feels he deserves more than just his role as a substitute.

On his Twitch channel, Kruse stated that, “There is no contact with any clubs at the moment, but we must also be honest: It is very clear that I am not satisfied with my role. That’s why I can’t give a guarantee for anything.”

Rumors continue to float surrounding his potential return to Werder Bremen, but no contact has been made by either side. The Bundesliga journeyman’s contract expires in 2023.
