Mathys Tel content with his progress at Bayern Munich

In an interview with Sport1, Mathys Tel has discussed his first few months with Bayern Munich having transferred from Stade Rennes in the summer for a base fee of €20m.

It’s not even been 100 days for Tel at Bayern but already he has experience in the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, and Champions League. The 17-year-old has hit the ground running as well. In 12 appearances across all competitions, Tel already has four goals to his name. What’s more, Tel scored a hattrick for France U19s against Kazakhstan recently to top off a successful 2022.

I really can’t complain,” Tel explains. “I’m satisfied with the times I’ve played so far. I’m here primarily to learn and to grow.”

Tel has already been breaking records in a Bayern shirt as well. During his first start for the team, the youngster scored in a 5-0 hammering against Viktoria Koln in the first round of the DFB Pokal. With that goal, Tel became the youngest-ever goal scorer in the history of the competition.

Tel summarised by saying: “I definitely still have a lot to learn, but in these weeks I’ve made tremendous progress in the technical and tactical areas, more mature. If you train with such top-class players every day, you develop much faster. I can only benefit from all these big names.”
