Rested against OGC Nice on Friday, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is expected to return for Olympique de Marseille when they host Newcastle United on Tuesday night.
Hojbjerg had a busy international break with Denmark and was afforded two days off (Wednesday and Thursday) by Roberto De Zerbi. The decision was taken to rest the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder against Nice as OM eased to a comfortable win in the Côte d’Azur derby.
However, when OM face Newcastle in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, Hojbjerg is expected to be involved, L’Équipe understands. Nayef Aguerd, meanwhile, continues to suffer with a pubalgia issue. The Moroccan will not be over-utilised until AFCON. He is expected to be used in the big encounters; the match against Newcastle certainly falls into that category.
However, his presence remains a doubt. The likes of Amine Gouiri, Facundo Medina, and Hamed Junior Traoré are all guaranteed to miss out on what is a key UCL clash for Marseille.
