Manchester United are reportedly ready to battle Manchester City for the services of former Barcelona prodigy Francisco Trincao.
This is according to A Bola who report the two Manchester giants hold the 25-year-old in high regard and are looking to seal a move for him in the summer.
United boss Ruben Amorim knows Trincao well, having signed him for Sporting Lisbon in the summer of 2022.
Amorim is now at the helm of affairs at Old Trafford, but he has found life in the Premier League extremely hard.
Since taking over as manager in November last year, the 40-year-old has won just 10 of his 24 matches in charge. The Red Devils were knocked out of the FA Cup last night after a penalty-shootout loss to Fulham.
Amorim is desperate to reinforce his squad in the summer and he is ready to raid his former club for Trincao.
However, they will have to fend off competition from fierce rivals City who are also keen on the forward.
The Citizens have been underwhelming this season and are expected to be active in the summer window.
They want to bolster their attack and view Trincao as a quality option.
The 25-year-old has been one of the most important players for Sporting this season. He has made 40 appearances across all competitions this campaign, scoring nine goals and creating 13 assists in the process.
The winger has a contract at the Estádio José Alvalade and reportedly has an €80 million release clause in his deal. It is said Barcelona have retained 50 percent of the Portuguese’s rights.
