Football.london believes that Manchester City are reportedly interested in bringing Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney to the Etihad Stadium. It has also been mentioned that the Mancunian giants are keeping tabs on him as they attempt to bolster their defence this summer after winning their fourth title in the last five seasons.

Tierney’s Campaign With Manchester City Rivals Arsenal

Tierney has had an injury-plagued campaign at Emirates Stadium, however, despite that he has managed to score 1 goal and create 3 assists over 25 appearances across all fronts last season.

The Isle of Man-born sensation has made the most out of his appearances after averaging 0.8 tackles, 0.7 interceptions and 2.2 clearances in Premier League football. His ball distribution has also been impressive, completing 82.5% of his attempted passes in English first-division football (stats via whoscored).

What Could He Bring To Manchester City?

Tierney can make some decent runs with the ball down the left flank. He has performed consistently, producing some stellar performances in the backline. He can even chip in by creating opportunities in the final third with his vision from the wide areas. The Scottish full-back excels at holding the ball when in possession and distributing it to his teammates proficiently.

The 25-year-old is primarily a left-back but remains versatile to fill in the centre-back position or play as a left-sided wide midfielder which makes him a great addition to any team.

The Scotland international would serve as a perfect replacement for their current left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is set to exit Etihad this summer. The left-back situation is a problem area Guardiola needs to solve and Tierney fits the bill perfectly. Should he arrive at Etihad in this transfer window, Joao Cancelo could play in his preferred right-back position next season switching with Kyle Walker when needed.

Signing a left-back is of paramount importance for the Sky Blues, and Guardiola has been wise to identify this Arsenal star. He should propose an initial bid to test The Gunner’s resolve as they won’t easily let their prized asset leave the Emirates Stadium.
