Man Utd Make £78m Bid for Real Madrid ‘Phenomenon’

Manchester United are targeting a shock summer move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, journalist Eduardo Inda has claimed.

The report says that the Red Devils are reportedly preparing an offer worth €90m (£78m) for the France international and are going ‘all out’ to secure his signature, with one part of the story actually suggesting that a bid has already been submitted.

Real Madrid are unlikely to let Tchouameni leave this summer, as he is considered ‘untouchable’ by new head coach Xabi Alonso, who took charge of Los Blancos last month.

Tchouameni is reportedly one of Alonso’s ‘favourites’ at the Santiago Bernabeu, and his early importance has been clear – he started all of Real’s Club World Cup games.

Manchester United were also recently linked with another Real Madrid star, Rodrygo, who has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal.

The Brazilian forward appears to be a more likely departure from the Bernabeu this summer, having struggled to secure a regular place in Alonso’s starting XI so far.

Tchouameni, who joined Los Blancos from Monaco in the summer of 2022, was deployed as both a centre-back and defensive midfielder by Carlo Ancelotti last season amid an injury crisis in defence.

Alonso has also used him in multiple roles at the Club World Cup and is said to be highly impressed by the Frenchman’s versatility.

Man United have prioritised attacking reinforcements in the first part of the summer window, with Matheus Cunha their only signing so far.

The Red Devils remain in talks to sign Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo, despite having two bids rejected for the Cameroon international.
