Following on from Real Madrid’s win against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday evening, one member of Carlo Ancelotti’s men secured himself a place in the history books.
The man in question was Luka Modrić, who at 38 years old has now become Real Madrid’s most decorated player, having previously held the title jointly with former captain Nacho.
Modrić now has 27 major trophies with Real Madrid, an accolade which looks set to lead the way for some time to come.
The Croatian played only 14 minutes toward the end of the match as Los Blancos won their sixth UEFA Super Cup in a 2-0 win over Atalanta.
It came thanks to goals from Federico Valverde and new signing Kylian Mbappé, with both goals in the second-half to secure the win for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
The whole squad now will be looking ahead to the weekend, when they will kick off their La Liga campaign with an away trip to face Mallorca.
Many will no doubt wonder whether this Real Madrid side will dominate on all fronts this season, after getting their campaign off to the perfect start in Warsaw.
