Bayern Munich winger Luis Díaz has spoken publicly for the first time since his red card incident against Paris Saint-Germain in Tuesday night’s Champions League clash at the Parc des Princes.
The Colombian international was sent off before half-time after a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi, who left the pitch in tears. Despite Bayern going down to ten men, Díaz had already made his mark with a first-half brace, inspiring the German side to a 2-1 win over PSG.
The former Liverpool winger took to Instagram to address the incident. “It was a night full of emotions. Football always reminds us that in 90 minutes, anything can happen – the best and the worst. I was sad not to finish the match with my teammates, but proud of their incredible effort. I wish Hakimi a quick recovery.”
Bayern’s win sees them strengthen their position at the top of Group D, while PSG’s hopes of progression will now depend on their remaining fixtures – and potentially Hakimi’s recovery timeline.
