Liverpool take note: Valencia boss Baraja drawn on Giorgi Mamardashvili situation

Valencia head coach Rubén Baraja was on Friday drawn on the latest on the future of star goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

As much, of course, comes amid mounting speculation, pointing towards an imminent exit from Mestalla for the Georgian.

The name of shot-stopper Mamardashvili has taken its place front and centre in the headlines across Europe over the course of recent days.

This comes amid confirmation that the Georgian has made his way firmly into the sights of Premier League heavyweights Liverpool.

The Reds are understood to consider Mamardashvili as the ideal long-term replacement for Alisson, with negotiations over a transfer which would see him join the Reds, before being immediately farmed out on loan, now in full swing.

The player himself is keen on such a move, with personal terms between the parties, in turn, having this week been agreed:

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s La Liga season opener against Barcelona on Saturday, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his no.1’s future was in turn put to Rubén Baraja.

And Valencia’s headmaster was blunt in his response, assuring that:

“As of today he’s [a] Valencia player and he’s fully focused on the next game. This is the current situation for that story.”
