Liverpool are showing interest in Galatasaray defender Wilfried Singo ahead of the January transfer window, according to reports in France.
The defending Premier League champions are reportedly preparing an offer worth an initial €28m (£24m), plus an additional €10-15m (£9-13m) in bonuses for the versatile Ivorian defender.
Liverpool are believed to be working towards a deal for Singo at the turn of the year but could face competition from some of Europe’s top clubs for the 24-year-old.
Singo, who joined Galatasaray from Monaco in August, is under contract until the summer of 2030 with the Turkish club.
Liverpool Keen on Wilfried Singo
According to Foot-Sur7, Liverpool are keen on bringing reinforcements to Arne Slot’s defence once the transfer window opens in January.
The Reds have been disappointing on both ends of the pitch this season, with only seven wins in 15 Premier League games, including just two wins in their last 10.
Liverpool are believed to have already held preliminary talks over Singo’s arrival on Merseyside, but it remains to be seen whether their initial offer would be enough to tempt Galatasaray into a deal.
The Istanbul side only welcomed Singo in July from Monaco in a deal worth €30m (£26m). The 24-year-old has made 10 appearances for the club since and is currently out with a hamstring injury, with his return expected before the end of the year.
A versatile defender, Singo is known for his ‘incredible’ physicality and ability to play almost anywhere across the backline, although the Ivorian is a natural right-back.
Singo spent two years at Monaco prior to joining Galatasaray, making 60 appearances for the Ligue 1 club, including six in the Champions League.
Ibrahima Konate’s Future Remains Uncertain
Liverpool could be forced to look for a replacement for Ibrahima Konate next year, with the Frenchman’s contract expiring at the end of the season.
The Reds have reportedly offered the central defender a new deal but face competition from other European clubs for his signature.
Real Madrid, however, are unlikely to become Konate’s next club, having informed Liverpool they are not going to pursue a move for the 26-year-old next year.
Konate has started in each of Liverpool’s 21 matches across all competitions this season, scoring once in the Champions League.
