Lisandro Martinez’s future has been thrown into doubt after his recent public outburst at Manchester United’s hierarchy.
The Argentine delivered a bombshell interview on Tuesday following United’s 2-0 Champions League defeat against Atletico Madrid.
Martinez called out the club’s technical director, Jason Wilcox, for not supporting manager Michael Carrick in the transfer market.
His comments have not gone down well with his teammates.
Martinez’s contract at Old Trafford expires next summer, with the club having an option to extend it by another year.
However, Sky Sports claims there are serious doubts about whether United will trigger the option.
The Red Devils are currently looking at new centre-backs and left-backs as they focus on revamping their defence.
Martinez has been a key first-team player under Carrick this season, starting seven of the nine games in all competitions.
The 28-year-old is renowned for his exceptional passing range, composure under pressure and aggressive tackling.
He has scored four goals in 117 appearances across all competitions since joining United in 2022.
Martinez’s association with the club is expected to end next summer after his stunning criticism of the club’s bosses.
