A lip-reading expert has shared what Donald Trump said to Cole Palmer and the Chelsea players during their Club World Cup celebration. The Blues shocked many in New Jersey as they triumphed over European champions Paris Saint-Germain in Sunday’s final, thanks to two near-identical strikes from Palmer and a wonderful finish from new boy Joao Pedro.
Club captain Reece James was on hand to lift the trophy during an awkward presentation, which saw the President of the United States, stand centre stage as the victors celebrated. And it has now been revealed what the head of state told the Chelsea stars.

Trump’s Conversation With Palmer and Co Revealed
An expert has shared the details
As per OLBG, via SportBible, expert Nicola Hickling, Palmer appeared to be the most confused of the players regarding Trump’s refusal to leave the stage during the trophy presentation.
Palmer is alleged to have said to teammates: “Can you ask him to move this way?… Wait, what’s going on?” Meanwhile, captain James appeared to tell Trump that he didn’t need any help in lifting the trophy, saying, “I got this.” This prompted goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, who had starred during the game, to chime in, saying: “It’s actually heavy.”
Appearing to be flustered by the amount of time it was taking Chelsea’s players to begin the celebrations, Trump is reported to have said: “What? Let’s go.” This led to Sanchez taking control of the situation when he realised the POTUS wasn’t going to move away from the stage, as the Spaniard conducted the rest of the build-up to the trophy raising by saying: “On the count of three, come on, come on.”
Afterwards, James revealed more of the conversation he had with President Trump:
“They told me that he was going to present the trophy and then exit the stage, and I thought that he was going to exit the stage, but he wanted to stay. He just congratulated me and the team for lifting the trophy and told us to enjoy the moment.”
It is not the first time that Trump has been involved in football proceedings either. The businessman-turned-politician was part of the draw for the quarter-finals of the 1991/92 League Cup, alongside Ian St John and Jimmy Greaves.
