According to the journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter, things are progressing between Lille OSC and Bruno Génésio, with the club keen to make him their next manager.
Génésio has been out of work since he was fired last November when Stade Rennais fell to then bottom placed Olympique Lyonnais. Génésio was then linked with a move to Lyon, but that ultimately fell through in December when Les Gones stuck with their interim manager, Pierre Sage.
This appears to be the clearest sign that Lille are preparing for life without their current head coach Paulo Fonseca. The Portuguese manager has been reluctant to sign an extension meaning that he could leave at the end of the season at the expiration of his contract.
Rumours have swirled in recent weeks over AC Milan and Olympique de Marseille being keen to swoop for the manager after he has impressed during his time at Lille, turning the squad into an attractive team that will go into the final day of the season challenging for a Champions League place.
