Former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci is now set to take legal action against his former club.
Bonucci is now at Union Berlin, who he joined late in the summer transfer window. But the Italian was informed that he was out of the Juventus project and was left behind in Turin when the rest of the squad flew to the United States. His entourage had sought information from the club about the reasons for why Bonucci was excluded from the project but the club’s stance remained firm.
Gianluca di Marzio has now reported that the defender has now chosen to take legal action against his former side. By the end of today’s morning, the player’s lawyers, Antonio Conte and Gabriele Zuccheretti, will proceed with the legal action provided for in the collective agreement. It is an action which consists of a request for compensation for damages due to the alleged lack of adequate training and preparation conditions available to Bonucci and this led to him suffering professional and image damage.
Bonucci doesn’t see this as personal war, the report states. He sees it as an act of principle. He believes that it is defamatory for him to have his training sessions at times which are different to the rest of the squad and he also didn’t have access to the gym, swimming pool and restaurant. He also didn’t have any mandatory assistance from anyone at the club.
The player will make sure that any amount earned from the case will be donated to Neuroland, an association that supports the families of children hospitalized in the pediatric neurosurgery department of the Regina Margherita Children’s Hospital in Turin and Live Onlus, an organisation that through the proceeds of auctions of materials belonging to high-profile athletes, purchases and donates defibrillators to be allocated to sports clubs, schools and municipalities.
