RC Lens’s search for a new number nine has yet to bear fruit. The club had been linked with Mathias Kvistgaarden (23), and had even reached an agreement with Brøndby IF, but were unable to convince the forward, who has now joined Norwich FC on a permanent transfer.
With Kvistgaarden proving to be a dead end, Lens have turned to Inter Milan. According to L’Équipe, Lens are interested in bringing Sebastiano Esposito (23) to the north of France. The Italian youth international has spent the majority of his career on loan away from Inter, having played for seven other clubs.
Lens considering Sebastiano Esposito
Last season, he spent the campaign at Empoli, where he made 33 appearances across all competitions, scoring 8 and assisting 2. This summer, he was given the chance to represent Inter at the FIFA Club World Cup, where he made four appearances before the Italian side were eliminated by Fluminese in the Round of 16.
Lens are far from the only team interested, with other Italian sides also looking at the number nine. And L’Équipe explains that if the situation becomes too complicated, Les Sang et Or will walk away.
